Christian Ed Committee
The Christian Ed committee provides the administration of our Sunday School program, including recruiting and training teachers, reviewing the curriculum used in the classrooms and scheduling the Children’s Worship Sunday, which takes place the first Sunday of each month throughout the school year. The children, aged Pre-K-grade 6 present a Christmas and Easter program each year for the congregation. The confirmation program for 8th graders is an on-line course through the Damascus Project. It is a twelve month program designed to help small churches provide a faith based confirmation experience. Ebenezer also offers an adult Bible study three Sunday evenings per month. This is a small group of people anxious to learn more about how God speaks to us through the scriptures. Our Sunday School and Bible study are both open to all people, and you do not need to be a member of Ebenezer to join in either of these programs. Both groups meet September through May.
Mission Education Committee
The Mission Education Committee is responsible for developing a global and local mission vision, educating the congregation regarding mission opportunities, managing mission related finances and projects and encouraging active participation in outreach. The Mission Ed committee plans and oversees special projects and events in the life of the church which will raise and donate monies for Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM) and other designated causes. Some of the events sponsored by the Mission Ed committee have included much needed hygiene products, children’s clothing, birthday cake mixes and frosting tubs for kids’ birthdays, all which are forwarded to the local Salvation Army office. We’ve also helped with toys for Harbor House for domestic violence victims, and given financial support for disasters in the United States and foreign countries through the Red Cross when disasters occur. The Mission Ed committee is very proud of Ebenezer Church and the support our members have given to these causes,
Women’s Guild
The Women’s Guild is a committed group of women whose goals are to serve the church, as well as the local community and the wider world around us, and to provide social opportunities for our members. It is open to all members of the congregation, men and women alike. The Guild meets every 3rd Thursday of the month, (except December) at 7Angels Restaurant in Chilton for breakfast, a brief meeting and socializing.
Through fundraising and offerings we provide for needs within the church and support many worthwhile entities beyond our walls. Some of our outreach has included baking pies for Chilton’s Thanksgiving Day Express, support for Our Church’s Wider Mission, and providing a remembrance gift to families when their child is baptized. We are also available to coordinate funeral luncheons at the request of church family members.
Pastoral Relations Committee
The work of the Pastoral Relations Committee is to provide an additional channel of communication between the congregation and the Pastor. They work to advance the whole ministry of the church. The members are recruited by the congregation’s president and approved by the council. The committee chooses its own chairperson. This group meets with complete confidentiality to assist the pastor in understanding and meeting the needs of the congregation, and may also provide a confidential format for members of the church to air any concerns.
Worship/Music Committee
The work of the Worship Committee is to provide guidance and support to the pastor in planning our church’s approach to worship and other special church events related to worship. They may assist in planning the church calendar for events and seasons of the church as well as special services throughout the year. They may encourage participation in worship by congregation members, and encourage lay leadership. They may help promote, and contact, people or groups to provide special music. Other responsibilities that may fall upon the worship committee are to arrange for altar flowers and altar roses for the birth of new babies.
Evangelism Committee
The Evangelism committee works as a group to offer special events for the community and our congregation, many targeting our fund raising efforts. Our newest event, Santa’s Supper, held in early December each year invites community members to join us for a pasta supper, secret shopping for the kids in Santa’s store and a bake sale where you can purchase many of your holiday goodies. And of course, Santa is there to talk with the kids. The committee has also had tee-shirt sales, family day and raffles for added fun.
Property Committee
It is the work of the Property committee to oversee the maintenance of the church building and grounds, and make all necessary improvements to keep the church property in good repair.
